Bleaching is a safe technique to use if you know which color will suit you better. If you want to give yourself a blonde look, bleaching is the best option for you. This article is a step by step guide how to bleach your hair at home.

Things you need:                    

  • A bowl
  • Bleaching kit
  • Old towel
  • A robe
  • A shower cap
  • A timer
  • Old clothes


  • First of all, buy a good quality bleaching kit to bleach your hair. Take some expert if you have any doubts in your mind regarding to color or its brand.
  • After purchasing a right bleaching kit, read the instructions given on the label carefully. Mix the bleach with hydrogen peroxide according to instructions. Do this very carefully because a small mistake can ruin your hair.
  • Wrap a towel around your neck and put on rubber gloves before the bleach application to protect your hands from chemicals. Do a small patch test before full application. For this apply bleach on a strand of hair and wait to check the result. It will helpful to give you an idea about the final color and time it will take to bleach.
  • Now start applying bleach 1cm away from the hair root, cover your entire hair length except roots. Wear a shower cap and wait for 10 min after application, then wash out your hair with water.
  • You might let out a squeak after seeing the orange colour that your hair takes up after the first application. There is nothing to worry. The orange colour just denotes that the natural pigments in your hair are still present and that it will require 3-4 more treatments before the bleaching effect on your hair.
  • Shampoo your hair after first application. Use a deep conditioner as bleach makes hair dry.
  • Give your hair 2-3 days before next application to recover them from damages caused by bleach.
  • The hair roots gets bleached fast and therefore it is the last place where you should apply bleach. The bleach should be kept on hair roots for a very short time to avoid any serious damage.
  • Give your hair an oil massage regularly to save them from harmful effects of bleaching.
