Hand Care In Winter

This winter keep your hands beautiful and eye catching with easy hand care tips. In winters, cold wind leaves our hands dry and scaly. To keep them soft and beautiful, try these tips.

Wear gloves to keep your hands safe from cold wind and chilled weather. Cold weather make the skin not only  dry, chapped but also results in cracks in fingertips.

Keep your hands moisturized with a good quality moisturizer. You can make an easy moisturizer at home by combining wheatgerm oil and any favorite essential oil. Use it like any other moisturizer to keep your hands soft and beautiful.

A few drops of lemon juice applied to your hands after washing is a good way to add moisture and vital vitamins to the skin and restore its pH balance. You can also make an easy hand mask at home.

Glycerine= 1tbsp

Extra virgin olive oil= 2tbsp

Lemon juice(freshly squeezed)= 1tbsp

Egg yolk= 1

Rose water= 3-4tbsp

Mix all the ingredients to make a useful hand mask.

Place a plate of water near heaters to keep moisture in air inside your house. Using rose water will also fill the air with a delicate scent and will work as aromatherapy. This simple measure will prevent skin, including the skin of hands, from over-drying.

Always wear rubber gloves while washing dishes, cleaning home or clothes. Take a mixture of calamine powder and curd, and make a pack with the same. Apply on the feet and hands generously and leave on for half an hour before washing off. Finish by applying moisturizing cream or milk, which should be left on for twenty minutes.

Make your own herbal liquid hand soap.

Bars of castile soap, grated= 2 – 4 oz

Hot water= 1 gallon

Herbal tea bag= 1

Aloe vera  gel= 1tbsp

Coconut oil= 2tsp

Honey= 2tsp

In large pot, heat water and grated soap till soap has melted/dissolved, add herbal tea bag and remove from heat. When cool, remove tea bag, add aloe vera gel, coconut oil and honey. Use hand mixer to blend, cover and let sit overnight, blend once more. Pour into gallon jar to store and fill soap dispensers as needed. Shake before refilling, and add a little more water if necessary.

Once a week, pamper your hands with  herbal bath or a herbal oil massage. For a bath, use nettle, sage, calendula, or chamomile steamed in water. Soak your hands in the cooled brew for 10-15 minutes, dry thoroughly, and apply a rich cream. For a massage, use almond oil with several drops of essential oil of rosemary.

If your hands become rough after a hard day gardening, pour a small amount of salt in the palm of one hand, then apply olive oil and rub hands together. Rinse off under warm water. Next, cover your hands with cotton gloves. This will work well for feet too.
