Polycystic ovaries syndrome(PCOS) also called Stein-Leventhal syndrome, is
a main cause of infertility in women. This syndrome occurs in 5-10% of women and its symptoms begin with menstrual irregularity and increase in male hormone (androgens) level. In addition to these acne, excess hair growth , obesity,insulin resistance, dandruff, high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol levels and baldness in women are also symptoms of PCOS.
Any of the above mentioned symptoms may absent in women with PCOS except menstrual irregularity. All women with PCOS have irregular or no periods.
PCOS may be inherited or caused latter. The ovaries of female with PCOS contain many small cysts but this is not only the cause of the problem. Insulin level in female with PCOS increases also there is an excess amount of male hormone called androgen in body which results to abnormalities and infertility
