As we grow our skin outer layer(epidermis) becomes thinner n thinne
r. That’s why our skin look thinner. It also keeps less moisture and skin becomes dry. Also middle layer(dermal layer) becomes thinner and hence produces less collagen. This causes wrinkles. The bottom layer includes fat cells which get smaller with age. The rate of regeneration of skin cells also decreases. All these factors cause the skin to repair less easily. The skin also loses its elasticity.
However, some people get wrinkles earlier than others because of the following reasons:
- Smoking affects the skin’s natural ability to repair.
- The sun’s UV rays cause wrinkles and sun spots.
- Heredity factors.
- Facial movements e.g, Constant frowning will cause furrows above the eyebrows.
- Stress is also a main cause of wrinkles.
